16-Year-Old Dies From Suffocation At Hospital | Daytona Beach Medical Malpractice Lawyer

A 16-year-old girl died from suffocation after hospital nurses sedated her.  The girl, Alexis Richie, was in an adolescent psychiatric ward when she tried to attack the staff by biting and scratching.  They proceeded to pin her face down on a bean bag chair to inject a sedative.  Once sedated, the child was left alone and no one checked on her until several minutes later.  It was determined the cause of death was suffocation.  The incident was ruled a homicide.
