A nursing home facility in Orange County recently gave up the battle to defend itself in court for negligence. Emeritus at Crossing Pointe will no longer have a state license to care for patients and must close.
The investigation against the facility began last year when a resident died after the home failed to give her heart medicine prescribed by her doctor. The facility also had a number of violations cited during inspections by the state Agency for Health Care Administration. Last September they were no longer allowed to admit new patients. Now the 53 residents who remain must be moved to new facilities.
