Childhood Cancer Survivors May Not Be Getting Proper Screenings | Daytona Beach Malpractice Attorney

A recent study says those who have survived childhood cancer are less likely to receive the recommended tests to see if the cancer has re-occurred.  11 million Americans have survived cancer and 325,000 of them were given their diagnosis at the age of 15 or younger.

The study looked at 8,318 cancer survivors, 2,660 siblings who never had cancer and 8,318 healthy people who also never had cancer.  The study found less than half the cancer survivors do not receive the recommended screenings.  In contrast, a higher percentage of those who never had cancer such as the siblings of survivors and the general public were found to receive screenings at the recommended intervals.
