Driver Breaks Move Over Law, Causes Four Car Crash | Orlando Accident Lawyer

Date: July 3, 2009
Location: Florida’s Turnpike
Type: Car Accident
Outcome: 2 in critical condition

A crash occurred on Florida’s Turnpike when a Ford Explorer lost control and hit a deputy’s patrol car.  Christopher Schriefer, the driver of the SUV, failed to move over for a deputy pulled over on the side of the interstate.

The deputy, Shane Dickens, was parked behind a Buick he pulled over when the SUV crashed into the patrol car. Dickens was out of the car near the Buick’s driver Kerry Velasquez. The impact of the first crash sent the SUV into a semi truck driven by Arturo Lopez.

Dickens and Velasquez were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with injuries.
