Three children, their mother and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries yesterday after the trooper lost control of his car while chasing a suspect at speeds of up to 90 mph.

FHP Trooper Andrew Barrett, 22, was chasing the suspect, who is still at large, eastbound on LPGA at about 3:30 p.m. and lost control of his car as he approached Jimmy Ann Drive. The patrol vehicle spun into another car carrying Belisa Norton, 32, Palm Coast and her three children, Taylor, 10, Azure, 6, and Hope, 5.

All four were treated at Halifax Health Medical Center and released that day.
Eyewitness accounts differ from the police report as to exactly which sides of the vehicles collided, but what is certain is that the suspect caused two more accidents before getting a ride with someone and escaping.
News outlets report no information about why the trooper was chasing the suspect - only that the trooper was trying to stop the suspect.
