It's especially dangerous at a nursing home after 20 days

Medicare pays for nursing home care for only 20 days.  Medicare reimbursement is sufficient to allow the nursing home to make a profit. The problem is that once the 20 days is up nursing homes can't be too quick to discharge patients. We have seen patients discharged even though they are terribly sick.
