Jacksonville Children’s Hospital Offering Donated Breast Milk, First In The Area | Daytona Beach Child Injury Attorney

A Jacksonville hospital is now offering donated breast milk to some newborns.  Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Northeast Florida is the first in the area to offer this. Human milk has been shown to fight infection and provide nutritional needs to infants.  Formula has been though to increase the risk of a potentially fatal disease, necrotizing entercolitis, in premature babies.  The hospital, which is paying for the donated milk because most insurance plans will not cover it, is limiting the recipients to babies less than 1,500 grams or around 3.3 pounds.

Learn what else parents should know about feeding babies in this Daytona Beach child injury attorney article.
