A 77-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was struck by an SUV, while riding his bicycle. Jim Messinese is a former coach and administrator for Beaches Chapel Church School. He was taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital after the accident and underwent 9 hours of brain surgery. ?
Messinese was struck by William Scott Adams, 41, in a Beaches neighborhood. Adams was arrested and charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license in the 10 a.m. accident. Blood tests haven been sent away for testing.
