Jury Awards $6.2 Million In Wrongful Death Suit Against Gainesville Hospital | Daytona Beach Medical Malpractice Lawyer

The family and estate of a deceased University of North Florida professor was recently awarded $6.2 million in a wrongful death lawsuit.  Dr. Cory Fine died in 2002 at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, FL.  Fine, a professor at UNF’s business school at the time, underwent gastric bypass surgery at Shands in December of 2002.  Five days after surgery he died during a CT scan from lack of oxygen.  The hospital knew Fine was having difficulty breathing but strapped him in for the scan anyway.
