Jury Renders $31 Million Medical Malpractice Verdict | Daytona Beach Medical Malpractice Lawyer

An Ohio jury recently rendered a $31 million verdict in a birth injury medical malpractice case.  A settlement between the parties came at nearly the same time the verdict was rendered which makes it likely the entire verdict will not be paid.

The case began after a boy suffered serious injuries during his birth in 2000.  The child, now 8-years-old, suffers from cerebral palsy and requires 24-hour care.  His mother was prepared to have a vaginal birth even though she had previously needed a c-section.  During labor, staff failed to recognize the fetus was in distress even with knowledge the labor was high risk.  The boy went for almost 20 minutes with no oxygen due to their negligence.
