The family of a 92-year-old man who died after living in a nursing home facility for a week and a half was awarded $42.75 million. The family filed a wrongful death suit after Joseph Offutt died of dehydration and bedsores. Offutt suffered serious nursing home neglect that resulted in malnutrition, dehydration, bedsores and infections. The Kentucky jury awarded the verdict on November 16 after a three-week trial.
