A 60-year-old pedestrian died this weekend after being struck by a car while crossing the road. John Mooney was crossing U.S. Highway 17 in Volusia County Saturday evening when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was Ricky Simmons, 49, a Daytona Beach resident. Mooney died from injuries sustained in the accident. The accident is under investigation but reports say charges are not likely.
