Nursing Home Assistant Sentenced To Jail | Daytona Beach Nursing Malpractice Attorney

An 89-year-old woman died in February after wandering from a nursing home out into the cold.  Heidi Leon, 24, was the nursing assistant working at the time of the incident.

Leon was recently sentenced to jail for criminal neglect of a long-term care facility resident.  Leon heard an alarm sound when 89-year-old Sarah Wentworth left the building.  Instead of investigating what set off the alarm she turned it off.  Wentworth was found hours later and died that day from injuries due to the cold.
