Ritalin May Cause Death In Children | Daytona Beach Medical Malpractice Attorney

A new study funded by the FDA, shows there may be correlation between stimulant drugs given to children with ADHD (attention- deficit hyperactivity disorder) and sudden cardiac death. The researchers looked at 564 children who died from sudden cardiac death and 564 who died from car accidents between 1985 and 1996.

The results show 10% of those who died suddenly were taking stimulants such at Ritalin. Only 2% of those in the accidents were taking this type of drug.  The FDA has not changed any advice on taking these drugs yet. The agency has already started another study on this matter that will be on a larger scale.
