Study Finds Link In Sudden Infant Death Syndrome | Orlando Child Injury Attorney

A study released in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows a link between sudden infant death syndrome and serotonin levels.  Of 47 babies that were studied, the children who died from SIDS had 26% lower serotonin levels.  Serotonin is used to regulate breathing, sleeping and waking.  Low levels of this chemical may prevent babies from waking up when carbon-dioxide levels are too high.  Further studies are needed protect children from SIDS.
