Study Finds Risk In Mammograms | Orlando Medical Malpractice Lawyer

A recent study, presented at a meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, shows mammograms may increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer.  The study says that women with a predisposition to breast cancer may be at an increased risk from the exposure of low-dose radiation from mammograms.  The research, presented by Dr. Jansen-van der Weide, is not conclusive however.  Another past study observing 5,000 high-risk women found results that women starting radiation before 20 years-old and were also exposed five or more times had an increased risk of developing breast cancer by 2.5 times.
