Woman Crashes Car Into River, Mayor Jumps In To Rescue | Daytona Beach Personal Injury Lawyer

A 66-year-old New Smyrna Beach woman was saved after a car crash that left her in the Intracoastal Waterway.  Suzanne Grims crashed into a vehicle driven by Nathan Sceffer, 33, of Palm Coast.  The accident, at Douglas Street and South Riverside Drive, sent Grims’ car into the water.  New Smyrna Beach Mayor Adam Barringer was in a nearby park when he was told of the crash.  Barringer and other, including Wayne Mechtel, Chris Kirk and an unidentified citizen, jumped into the water and rescued Grims.  Grims was taken to Bert Fish Medical Center and was released after treatment.  Sceffer was not injured in the accident.  Authorities report Grims was at fault.
