Bishop's Glenn Retirement Center Quality of Care Ratings

The Florida AGENCY FOR HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION NURSING HOME GUIDE, last updated May, 2010 discloses some low ratings for a Daytona Beach area nursing home, Bishop’s Glenn Retirement Center at 900 LPGA Blvd., Holly Hill, Florida. The nursing home guide ratings are based on inspections done by state employees with expertise in evaluating the quality of care provided by nursing homes. The agency is responsible for licensing and regulating nursing homes. The overall inspection for Bishop’s Glenn was only two stars out of five while quality of care, quality of life, pressure ulcers and decline were only one star out of five.

The affiliation of the nursing home is listed as United Church of Christ, Retirement Housing Foundation. The licensee for the nursing home is Holly Hill RHF Housing, Inc.

Certainly, anybody considering choosing Bishop’s Glenn for a nursing home should take these ratings into consideration. For example, if a person who is at risk for developing pressure ulcers is considering Bishop’s Glenn Retirement Center it is important to the decision to take into account that Bishop’s Glenn received only one star out of five for pressure ulcers. Similarly, a rating of only one star out of five for quality of care is not as high a rating as 80% of the other nursing homes similarly rated.

At a minimum, we recommend that you talk carefully with the nursing administration and the nursing home administrator to determine what has been done to improve the ratings.
